A man weighing 30 stone has given up his job after health and safety fears

A fitter working in Burton-on-Trent has taken early retirement after ten years service and admitted that he shared his employers concerns regarding health and safety. His bosses were concerned that the man, who is diabetic, may fall on someone and cause them real damage. His weight was also causing him problems in his job day to day work as he often had to scale platforms to carry out tasks.

The 51 year old man recently lost 9lb and is also considering gastric band surgery.
